Apple Crisp

It's fall, the air outside has a slight chill to it and the leaves are beginning to change their colors. My mind immediately goes to apples! All things apples! And this apple crisp is my all time favorite dessert. Maybe it's because it has oatmeal in it, maybe it's the apples, maybe its the nostalgia, whatever it may be, I won't ever turn down a good apple crisp! Unless it has nuts in it. Why do people ruin perfectly good desserts by adding nuts?

In Minnesota, where I get up, we would often go to apple orchards in the fall. I LOVED them! I loved the gift shops where everything apple lined their shelves and I would always get a cup up fresh, hot apple cider. I remember one year, when I was a teenager going with my dad and my twin sister and for some reason my dad left us for a few minutes to go do something else. While he was gone some teenage boys saw us and began to whistle at us and make suggestive comments. While this was going on my dad walked back to us and instead of getting onto the boys he hid in some of the apple trees and started hitting them with rotten apples! They took off so fast! Elizabeth and I had a pretty good laugh.

This is my favorite dessert, leave a comment and let me know what your favorite dessert is! And then hurry into the kitchen, this is easy to whip up and it's every so tasty. And you know ... add nuts if you feel so inclined!
